shrinking vista volumes bypassing microsoft shenanigans

Trying to shrink a Vista volume and finding you've encountered one of the following problems?

* The Windows Disk Management Tool only allows you to shave off a piddly amount from your Vista volume.
* Using the Disk Management Tool you get 'Access Denied'.
* Using the command line tool 'diskpart' you also get 'Access Denied'.

Use TeraBytes BootIt NG and bypass those silly shenanigans Microsoft force upon you that can cost many hours of your precious time.

I tried shrinking a Vista volume but kept coming up with problems such as the common 'Access Denied' and not being able to shrink past the Master File Table. Defragging my drive offline and online with several well known defraggers did not help either.

After a bit more digging i came across TeraBytes BootIt NG. BootIt allowed me to create a bootable ISO image within Windows. Once booted off the ISO i was able to select my Vista partition and resize it to the minimum size. The process was smooth, intuitive and without any errors. TeraByte offer BootIt for a free 30 day trial.
